Genital Herpes Type 1 and Type 2 Infections: Information for Sexual Health Educators

Genital herpes, caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV), is among the most common STIs in Canada and has a range of important medical and psycho-social outcomes. Although there have been significant improvements in our understanding of the biology and transmission of genital herpes, as well as the development of effective medical treatments, the epidemiology of genital herpes has evolved significantly in recent years.
